You are NEVER charged for declined orders. Even though your bank or credit card issues shows those charges, they are only pending until they receive final confirmation that they were actually declined, this typically happens in the evening, but we've seen it happen in as little as a couple of hours.
When you make purchases online, your credit card is not actually "charged" at the moment. Credit cards go through a preauthorization process where the card processor (in this case New Provisins Racing, Shopify) checks with your bank or credit card issues to verify you have enough available credit to complete the purchase. At that time, your bank or card issues places a hold, or pending charge, or preauthorization amount, whatever you would like to call it, on the amount of the intended purchase against your card. The card processor then makes sure the other information you input is correct (billing address matches, zip code, etc). If all this information is correct the transaction is processed and accepted. If it is incorrect, the transaction is declined.
In either case, your bank or card issues still only has the pending charge on the account. Transactions are typically not finalized until the early evenings when card processors send out final confirmation for all of the days payments and transactions to the various banks.
So if you had 3 transactions declined and then had one accepted at 10am, check your bank at 3pm, you should see 4 pending charges on your account. That is because the bank will not know which transaction is declined or accepted until our processor notifies your bank. Once the processor notifies your bank, those pending declined charges are removed from your account.
Charges made after the days transactions have been settled will be processed with the following days batches.
This is NOT a unique situation with our website only, this is how 99% of all online shopping is done.
PLEASE NOTE: Some banks or credit card issuers can take 24 hours or longer before they remove pending charges.
